The museum building designed by Jean Nouvel resembles desert rose and it focuses on the history, heritage, and spirit of Qatar. The 52,000 square feet museum located on Doha's waterfront hosted over 450,000 visitors within a year after its opening on 28 March 2019.

The attractions inside the museum are categorized and arranged chronologically to easily understand the past and present of the country. Witness the restored historic Palace of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani, the son of the founder of modern Qatar. The palace displayed as the centerpiece of the museum is the best example of Qatar’s traditional architecture. 

The collections add up to approximately 8,000 archaeological artifacts from decorative arts to historical documents. Some of the most prominent displays are a 19th-century carpet embroidered with 1.5 million Gulf pearls and the oldest discovered Quran in Qatar, dating back to the 1800s. Take a walk through and gaze at the vibrant and unique display with lighting, visual, and sound effects.
